(302) 652-3353After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University, Dr. Minkovitz earned his M.D. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, completed an internal medicine internship at Harvard’s Mount Auburn Hospital, an ophthalmology residency at Washington University, and a cornea/refractive fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins. He specializes in laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and complex corneal disease.
A long-time innovator, Dr. Minkovitz participated in early excimer laser PRK research beginning in 1994 and began offering PRK to Wilmington patients following FDA approval in 1996. Together with his partner at the Center for Advanced Surgical Arts, he introduced laser cataract surgery to Wilmington in 2012, bringing Delaware’s first LensX laser. He later founded Laser Vision Delaware, LLC (2016), adding a newer, faster, and more accurate refractive laser and making this technology available to other surgeons. In addition to laser vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, he performs advanced cataract surgery—including laser-assisted techniques and premium lens implants for astigmatism correction. He is among the small number of Delaware surgeons trained in corneal transplantation and has led state “firsts” in CK for near vision and DSAEK, DMEK, and DALK corneal transplants. He also provides comprehensive screening and treatment for a broad range of eye diseases.
A partner at Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.A. since 1996, Dr. Minkovitz serves on the staffs of Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital, and the Center for Advanced Surgical Arts (medical advisory board). An assistant clinical professor at Johns Hopkins University, he received the Outstanding Teacher Award from Wilmer Eye Institute residents, was named a Delaware Today Magazine “Top Doc” for six consecutive years and again in 2019, and served as an invited instructor at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in 2005 and 2006.
