Dr. Hwang specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts, along with providing comprehensive ophthalmology services. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in chemistry and physics before earning both his medical degree and PhD at Columbia University, where his dissertation research focused on Alzheimer’s disease. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, followed by a prestigious glaucoma fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University.

A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Hwang has received recognition such as the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship and the Doheny Professional Association Travel Award. His research contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications covering topics like glaucoma, Alzheimer’s disease, ion channel electrophysiology, and femtosecond laser interactions with transparent materials.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Hwang is an accomplished amateur classical musician, having performed at esteemed venues including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
