Dr. Josephson, M.D., is a Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained ophthalmologist with extensive expertise in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. He completed an advanced fellowship at the University of California San Diego, complemented by a high-volume LASER fellowship at the Gordon Weiss & Schanzlin Laser Vision Center. His training also includes an internship and residency at Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Academic Center, where he developed strong surgical and clinical skills. Earlier, he earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with a Distinction in Research, after completing a Clinical Research Training Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. He received his undergraduate degree in cell biology and neuroscience from Rutgers University, graduating with High Honors as a Henry Rutgers Research Scholar.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Josephson is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology with the Georgetown University Residency Program, where he regularly trains young surgeons. Dedicated to service, he also participates in medical mission trips to provide eye care to underserved populations. He is known not only for his innovative surgical approach but also for his compassionate connection with patients. Beyond medicine, Dr. Josephson enjoys basketball, tennis, and spending time with his wife Nancy, their three daughters, and their church community.

Very difficult to talk to someone. I waited for 30 minutes for my turn then got hung up by the receptionist when he picked up. I had to call back and waited again for 25 minutes. My mom needs to reschedule and I made 4 requests for call back but never received a call back. We decided to go to another doctor. Even to cancel appointment takes 30 minutes to get through. Too much time wasted and unbelievable service!
If you need to get an eye surgery you can get it anywhere . But if you need a professional surgery with care and kindness from all the staff at the center starting from Dr John who clearly explained to you your conditions and what need to be done to the nurses , the finance staff who will do whatever needed to help you with your payment to the nurse who is holding your hands during the surgery to the phone call of Dr John the night of your surgery to make sure that you are ok .
My mom had a very severe cataract that not every ophthalmologist could treat. Dr. Josephson performed the cataract surgery on her last year, and the results were outstanding. My mom mentioned that she has never been able to see this clearly before and is extremely pleased with the outcome. Thank you very much, Dr. Josephson.
